Super Saturday

Today was a great day! We all got to spend a nice day together just relaxing and being together as a family. We both made it to the gym and had our Starbucks. We took it easy this morning and then we went to the Natural Gardener to look for trees and plants. I got some herbs for an herb garden that I hope to plant. We also looked at some different trees and plants for our backyard. We hope to do some work on that this spring. Barrett had a blast running around all the trees and looking at the chickens. he also liked the red wagon. We went to a birthday party in Round Rock. Barrett and his buddies had a great time. We ended the evening at Flores, a local Mexican food place, for dinner. I had yummy enchiladas and lots of chips. It is always an adventure eating out with two kids. Now, Derek is going to watch the final four and I guess I'll look around for some dessert. Here are some pics of our day.

Grant is here!

Our very good friends David and Julie Walker welcomed their second child into the world this afternoon. Grant David was born at 2:40 and was 9 pounds! They were very surprised. He also has reddish blond hair! We are so happy for them. We went to the hospital this evening and Barrett got to play with his best buddy Tate. They both wanted to sit in the bed with her and Julie was nice enough to let Barrett run the cars on her leg and let him crawl around on the bed. Julie looks great. Congratulations David and Julie!

Oh, My Aching Legs!

Every year since we've been married, except the 2 I was pregnant, I've run in the Austin Capital 10K. It is a 6.2 mile race and it is always fun. I wanted to get in better shape to run this year, but I could only ever grab a day here or there to run. The race was yesterday morning. I was worried about rain, but it held off and it was nice and cool for the run. I listened to my ipod and weaved my way through the thousands of people running the race. See, we were late and the race had already begun so I was behind alot of people. I saw Derek and the kids along the way and at the finish line. It made me smile. I am so lucky to have a wonderful husband who supports and encourages me in this and everything I do. He watches the kids after a long day at work or after her returns from a trip, so that I can exercise or grab a bit of time to myself. I am so blessed. I love you honey! My goal was 55 minutes and I completed the race in 52.2 minutes and was 37 in my age group, 250 overall. I never saw the mile markers until mile 4 so I had no idea of my pace and I am fairly happy with my time. After the race, we went to eat breakfast at Austin Java. I had yummy breakfast quesadillas and french toast(kids size). I am glad I did run and felt totally justified in eating anything I wanted yesterday, today..... And no exercise for me today- my legs are sore! Here is a pic of me and Barrett after the run.

Weekend in Houston

We went to Houston for a long weekend. We spent time with both of our families.
My mom and I spent some time shopping on Friday while Derek went to his parent's house and let Barrett play with his cousins. We spent quite a bit of time at Ulta(I forgot all of my toiletries) and walked out of there with the Bare Essentuals Starter kit and several other things. I love this new make up! It is a bunch of different powders that serve as concealer, foundation, blush and powder. It looks good all day and feels like there is nothing on your face.

On Friday night, Derek and I went to Pappasito's for a date and then out to a movie. It was so nice of my mom to watch the kids so we could have a much needed date. We had a wonderful time hanging out.

On Saturday, we had a relaxing morning and then went to Derek's brothers house to see the girls and hang out. Barrett had a blast playing with everyone. Then it was on to GrandBob and GrandMoms to hang out and see Aunt Michele(Derek's sister). We enjoyed visiting with them and went to dinner too.
Here is Brooklyn with Aunt Michele.Sunday Brooklyn made her debut at Bammel for church. And in the afternoon, Kurt and Suzy and the kids came over. Teddy also came in from Washington. Barrett and Shaelyn play so well together. It is fun to watch them play together. Nana and Brooklyn before church Derek having fun pushing Barrett and Shaelyn around the yard over and over again! Barrett giving Shaelyn a push -Ugghh!
Barrett wearing Teddy's boots!
We went to my moms school on Monday and saw her classroom and met the people she teaches with. She is at a brand new school and it is really nice. Barrett had fun playing on the playground with the kids.

We are now back in Austin and getting into the swing of things again. We may paint the breakfast nook this weekend, but we'll see if Derek is up for it.

Brooklyn is 7 months old

Brooklyn at 7 Months Old!

Well, it is hard to believe but my little baby is now seven months old. She is such a joy to us. She is so happy. Here are some things that are happening with her right now.
She has decided that she doesn't want a paci anymore, so it looks like we will be getting rid of those. Though , I may hang on to one just in case.
She is a great eater. Brooklyn loves applesauce, bananas, sweet potatoes and rice cereal. It is so messy to feed her. I try to feed her when Barrett is not around. He is such a distraction.
Brooklyn loves Barrett. She just lights up when he comes around. He loves to hold her in his lap and then "crash" them both into the pillows. She just laughs and laughs. I hope they always get along so well. Here are some pictures of the kids.

Some recent pictures

Brooklyn at 6 months old.

Here is Barrett making himself a mummy. I have no idea where he got this idea. This is a typical day with Barrett. You never know what to expect. He is such a fun kid and always makes me laugh.

This is us before church on the day of Brooklyn's baby dedication. She looked so cute in the dress Aunt Kellee gave her.

Brooklyn getting ready to eat rice cereal for the first time.
Isn't this fun. It was such a mess. Now I remember why
I was so hesitant to start this baby food stuff.

Barrett takes after his dad. He loves baseball and
hitting off the tee in the backyard.

Here is a picture of the four of us. Notice my curly hair. This happened after Brooklyn was born. It is easier, but mak kids have NO idea all they things we go through.

Weekend in Review

I am anxiously waiting by the phone for my friend Andrea to call, so I figured I'd blog. She is at the doctor waiting to find out whether she is having a girl or boy. My guess is a girl, but what do I know. I just hope it all goes well. Here is an update of our weekend.
We had a nice, but busy weekend. We went to dinner with our friends the McDonald's and Walkers. Julie is about to have her baby, Grant, so it was one last time before he gets here. Barrett and his buddy Tate were a little crazy, but they always have a fun time being together! saturday, I got my hair cut and highlighted. I even finished my book club book while there. Then a relaxing afternoon and a birthday party. Sunday, we were supposed to meet Kara and Elizabeth(my sister and niece), but Elizabeth got sick. We were all bummed we didn't get to hang out with them. We had our care group over last night for our monthly dinner. It was a lot of fun visiting and eating way too much. This week we have some playdates scheduled since Barrett is on Spring Break. Then Thursday we head to Houston for the weekend. We can't wait.
We're off to Costco to get my pics on a cd so I can share some pictures from the past few months. I wish Barrett was napping, but maybe he'll go to bed early.

Book club/ girls night!

Well I am going to book club tonight and Derek is gone. He got to go to Chicago and have dinner with Kellee and Anthony( I am jealous for many reasons- a kid free meal, spending time with them and a trip away from home). Anyways, this will be our first time to pay for a sitter. We have been blessed to be able to trade sitting with friends who have kids. Barrett is fired up to have Katy come"play" and watch Thomas the train with someone besides me(I'm happy too -I mean how much Thomas can a person watch?) It will be nice to have girls night, even though I haven't finished the book... Oh, well. My camera and my computer are not working well together right now, so I will post pictures soon.
