Barrett's 8th birthday

Barrett turned 8 on May 19.  Its hard to believe he's had another birthday. Derek and I were in Houston on Friday night,so Barrett and Brooklyn spent the night with our friends, the Beard's.  They went to Tutti Fruitti for a pre-birthday treat.  On Saturday, we all met up at the swim meet and Barrett got to swim his first meet of the year on his birthday.  After the meet, we went to P. Terry's for lunch.
We gave Barrett his present before the party. He got a new BMX bike.  I don't know who likes it more- Barrett or Derek.

Barrett has been wanting a sleepover for his party.  So, we had 7 boys come over to celebrate.
Barrett had the whole agenda set out.  Everyone arrived and we headed to the field near our house to play a game of wiffle ball. Everyone worked up quite a sweat playing the game.

After the ball game, we went back to the house and the boys played in the yard and had dinner.
Then we set up the water slide and the boys spend a few hours playing on the slides, shooting water guns and having a water balloon fight. Barrett is a sweet brother and even let Brooklyn hang out and play.

After that, we sang Happy Birthday and had cake and opened presents. Barrett wanted a cake with the Miami Heat symbol in the middle.

The boys played some more and then got settled in to watch a movie.  Most of the kids fell asleep during the movie, but a few finally went to bed a little after midnight.

The boys were up a little after 6. I fed them breakfast  and kept them in until 7,then they headed outside to play wall ball and play another baseball game in the backyard until is was time to go.

Barrett said he had a great time and it was just what he wanted.  Which, is just what we want too! Happy Birthday buddy!  We love you!

May happenings

Kinder Round Up- In the beginning of May, we registered Brooklyn for Kindergarten.  I can't believe how the time has flown.  Brooklyn is so excited for school to start.  Here she is with her friend, Kendra- they both can hardly wait till Agust!

Cinco de mayo fun run- Barrett wanted to run a fun run this year.  So, I ran with him and our friend, Ben.  They both did great and finished in under 30 minutes. It was a great race and Barrett already has plans to do another one.

Mother's Day- Mother's Day was a fun day for me.  Derek made me french toast for breakfast.  The kids made me cards and I love homemade cards.  They also made me sweet gifts at school.  After church, we went to brunch at Max's Wine Dive.  It was a great brunch buffet(which is great with kids)!  The food was so good. my favorite was the shrimp and grits.  I got to take a nap, go for a run and hang out at the pool with my loves.  it was a great day!

Dave Matthews- Derek and I went to the Woodlands to see Dave Matthews. We have seen Dave several times and it is always a good show. We had a fun time together jammin to the music.  We also got to see our friends Shane and Brandi.

Nationals Baseball

Barrett played his second year of coach pitch baseball.  it was a hard year for the team.  We had a losing season, some bad luck and everyone got a little discouraged.  But, the kids all improved and had good attitudes, in spite of our losses.  Barrett really got much better this season.  He loved playing third base the most, but liked catcher and second base too.

Brooklyn was a great supporter of the team and sported her Nationals gear each game.
Heres's hoping to a better season next year!

Brooklyn's pre-K Graduation

Brooklyn has finished preschool.  I can't believe this  phase is ending. Where did the time go? Brooklyn has loved preschool. The school is so sweet and her teachers are so loving and kind.  She really blossomed this year into her own person.  She has a grown more confident, bold and come into her own. We have had a great experience at Park Hills.
