123's of me

I saw this on Kellee's blog and it seemed like something fun. Here are the 123's of me...

1...wonderful husband who I love with all my heart. He is so thoughtful and loving and takes great care of our family.

2...awesome kids who are so fun and happy and make me smile. They are such joys to me and make each day an adventure.

3...years I went to ACU before I transferred to Harding

4...places Derek and I have lived in Austin- 1 apartment, 1 duplex, 2 houses

5...days in a row that both my kids have napped. I guess Barrett isn't quite ready to give up the nap! Yeah for me!

6...years I taught school. I quit when Barrett was born.

7...days that I drink coffee during the week

8...and a half years that Derek and I have been married. We have known each other so long, almost 20 years!!!I am so lucky to be married to such a great guy!

9...years I've lived in Austin. I lived a year here while Derek and I were engaged and then he moved here after we got married.

10...minutes I have been awake and the house is still quiet. Maybe everyone will keep sleeping and I can enjoy the quiet a few minutes more.

Favorite Books

I love to read. Ever since I can remember, it has been one of my favorite things to do. I love getting lost in a good book. I remember reading my first chapter books and then moving up to romance novels and other fictional books. I even stuck books inside my textbooks in jr. high and high school and read while I should have been listening in class. So, here are some of my favorites. The first 3 books are books I read in jr. high. I don't know if it is the memory of how much I liked the book or that the characters were so memorable to me or what, but it is hard to beat those books that I still. Anne of Green Gables-I remember reading Anne of Green Gables and laughing out loud. I love that book and the characters too(and I also read all the other books in the series too). I sometimes really hate when a book ends and I just want to keep finding out what happens with the characters. It was the first book I really remember loving. Another book is To Kill A Mockingbird. It is just a really good read. And, Gone With the Wind. I couldn't put that book down. I loved Scarlett and the romance of the book. Another favorite is a book I I read in college, The Notebook. I couldn't stop reading or stop crying as I was reading it. It was such a touching story. OK, so one more, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I really love all her books, but this one was the first I read of hers and it was amazing!! So, I'd love to hear what your favorite books are. Please share and I can add them to my list of books to read.

17 months (and a few days) old

Brooklyn turned 17 months old on the 18th of this month. She is such a delight to be around and is a really happy girl. She has finally started calling me mama instead of daddy. I am really happy about that. She loves her baby dolls and it is fun to watch her be a "little mommy". Here are some pictures of our little cutie!

Catching Up!

Well, it has been a while since I blogged. Barrett has totally given up his nap, unless I drive around for a while, and so my computer time has stopped also. Here's what we've been up to...
We went to Waco 2 weeks ago to celebrate Christmas with my family. mt brother, Kurt and his family weren't able to make it, but all the rest of us were there. We had a fun time hanging out and opening presents at Shane and Kara's new house. We also were able to attend the first meeting of The Grove, the church that Kara and Shane are planting in Waco. It was awesome to be there for that and to see how God is already working in that.
Barrett went back to preschool and that was fun for him and nice for me too. We enjoyed the holidays and being able to take it easy , but I am glad that we are back to a routine now.
On Thursday, my book club met at Z Tejas and it was fun to talk books and hang out. We also had a celerity sighting and saw Brad, from the Bachelor, which was exciting for us.
This past weekend I went to Dallas with Kara and my mom to see Kellee. It was an awesome time of relaxing and talking and enjoying each others company. We got pedicures, shopped, saw a movie(P.S. I love you-so good!! and a tear jerker too!), and ate lots of good food. It was fun and I am so blessed to have my sisters and mom as my close friends. One bad thing did happen and my car died in Waco when I dropped Kara off. Luckily, I was at their house. They lent me their car and now my car is fixed and they picked it up from the dealer. My sweet husband will be taking Kara's car to them. Thanks Kara and Shane for helping us out!!
That's all for now. Hopefully I can take pictures soon and when I do, I'll post them.
