Puerto Rico Vacation

Derek and I went to Puerto Rico to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. It is crazy to believe we have been married 10 years. We had a great time together and enjoyed ourselves so much. It was a truly perfect vacation. It was so relaxing and we had so much fun just being together! Puerto Rico is beautiful and the culture is so unique. It is an island filled with history.(Warning- there are alot of pictures! I tried to scale down, but we took over 400 pictures, so it was hard). Here's a recap of our trip.
We arrived in San Juan on Sunday evening and headed to Old San Juan where we were staying at El Convento Hotel. It was an old convent and it was so unique. There was a courtyard in the middle with a giant tree. We went to a late dinner and then back to our hotel for some rest.

On the terraceMonday was spent walking around old San Juan and looking at the fort and city walls. We saw so many cool views and sights. It was beautiful! We enjoyed a wine and cheese reception on the terrrace of our hotel where we could overlook the city. It was so relaxing. We went to dinner at a wonderful place called the Parrot Club. And they had yummy rum drinks too(Puerto Rico is known for their rum.)

Tuesday we ate at this delicious place for breakfast where the locals hung out. Then walked around and looked at some more sights and shops. We went into San Juan and went to Isla Verde beach and ate lunch in a little shack- it was yummy.

Wednesday, we left San Juan and went to the El Yunque Rainforest. We hiked down to a waterfall. It was beautiful and the water was so clear. It was also really cold in the water and under the waterfall. The rainforest was full gorgeous. We then went to Luquillo to Luquillo Beach. It was so pretty and peaceful! After the beach ,we caught a ferry to the tiny island of Culebra, off the coast of PR. It was a quaint, rustic little island. And it was beautiful. Our cottage was on a bluff overlooking the water and it took my breath away. The whole island is so cute and secluded. It was very romantic.

Thursday, we went to Flamenco Beach and the water was crystal clear and serene. We took a hike to Carlos Rosario beach to snorkel. It was a little cove and we were the only people there. The snorkeling was great there! We hiked along the coastline back to our place. It was such a pretty view. We went to the little town for dinner where we ate right next to the water. In the water there were huge tarpon swiming around right beside us.

Dinner on the waterfront

Friday, Derek took off to snorkel again and I headed to the beach at our hotel to catch some rays and read. We both had a relaxing morning before catching the afternoon ferry back to Puerto Rico. While waiting for the ferry we ate chicken on a stick, cooked right in front of us on a little grill, and it was terrific.

We arrived back in Fajardo and got off the ferry and headed back to Old San Juan. We walked around the square and looked in some cute shops. We ate dinner in a local place,Raices, that was incredible. All of the food and drinks we had were terrific.
